Dr. Balázs Wekerle
Pig specialist veterinarian and mixed-practice "traveling" veterinarian
Dr. Balázs Wekerle has been working as a specialist consultant for pig farms and as a technical translator for 30 years. He played a significant role in the eradication of Aujeszky's disease in Hungary.
He currently operates a mobile veterinary practice, providing round-the-clock care for animals in Pest County, mainly through on-site observation and natural healing solutions. His approach is based on ethology, psychology, and environmental factors, while striving to reduce the financial burden on animal owners. In his work, he emphasizes respectful and thorough cooperation with both animals and their owners.
"I have 30 years of experience as a consultant for pig farms and as a technical translator. Together with my father, Prof. László Wekerle, we actively participated in the eradication of Aujeszky's disease in Hungary, as well as providing technical advice and training for farms in the field of artificial insemination. Our name is associated with the translation of numerous technical books and journals, primarily concerning pigs and cattle, such as the book ‘Jelez a sertés’, which emphasizes the careful observation of animals and their living conditions and became a factor that influenced my later healing activities.
I perform veterinary authority tasks in Gödöllő, and previously in Vác.
Currently, I am primarily engaged in my mobile veterinary practice, available around the clock, for all animal species, mainly in the Pest county area. My main motivation is observing animals in their own homes and environments, collecting abnormal behaviour patterns and symptoms, communicating with owners, during which I identify the root causes and circumstances of the disease. My principle is that most problems can be solved on-site, and if necessary, I refer patients to specialized veterinary colleagues relying on my professional connections.
Another key aspect of my healing approach is reducing financial obstacles in animal treatment, as in-clinic treatments are often unaffordable for a significant segment of animal keepers. Based on my experience, I have never been called out unnecessarily in any case.
My approach is that no two cases are the same, so I incorporate ethology, psychology (conversations with the owner), mental health, and environmental factors into solving the case. I consider the use of medications and veterinary treatments to be only a slice of the healing process. In my treatments, I prefer natural solutions such as Ayurveda and phytotherapy."
